The state-owned eletricity firm PT PLN (Persero) has recorded the biggest profit in its history after achieving a net profit of IDR22.07 trillion in 2023 or one and a half times that of 2022 all at once made a "hattrick" net profit records for  three consecutive years since 2021.

Through transformation led by President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, PLN's financial condition continued to improve significantly. It successfully overcame various challanges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the primary energy crisis, to global geopolitic and economic uncertainty.

The President Director in his written statement through PT PLN South and Central Kalimantan Main Distribution Unit's PR received in Banjarbaru, Wednesday, said the achievement was the result of a comprehensive transformation over the last three years from business process, organization, human resources, to customer service. 
 
"This achievement was achieved through the struggle of all PLN people who carried out end-to-end digital-based  transformation. From generation system, transmission, distribution, procurement, financial system, planning system to organizational restructuring and customer service, until now that PLN becomes energetic, and unified, sturdy and tough," he said.

The PLN's 2023 net profit was generated from the company's total revenue of IDRp487.38 trillion, an increase of IDR46.25 trillion from 2022, all at once success in reducing long-term and short-term debt of IDR12.77 trillion. 
 
"This positive notch is proof that PLN is not only able to plan transformation at strategic level, but also able to execute it at operational level," noted Darmawan.
 
PLN has recorded an electricity sales of 288.44 terrawatt hours (TWh) grew by 5.36 percent from 2022. This cannot be separated from marketing innovations through intensification programs which included power addition promos, captive power acquisition and electrifying lifestyle campaign and extensification program which includes electrifying agriculture and marine, dedieselization and electric vehicle infrastructure.

"Through the various innovation have been implemented, PLN has succeeded achieving electricity sales revenue of IDR333.19 trillion, an increase of IDR22.13 trillion from 2022," he said.
 
Darmawan also expounded that the increase in income was not only from selling electricity, but also from business development outside the electricity or beyond kWh. 
 
"The perspective on business development, which was previously stagnant and backward looking, is now more expansive, dynamic and forward looking," Darmawan explained.
 
It has proven that throughout 2023, beyond kWh business has contributed significantly to revenue of IDR10.27 trillion or one and a half times the realization in 2022. The innovation includes the provision of primary energy for private generators, telecommunication network service, electricity infrastructure maintenance service, electricity equipment and infrastructure rental, to electricity project review service of other business entities.
