After launching Non-Outage Substation Maintenance last week, the state-owned eectricity firm PT PLN held the third Simultaneous Execution Action Movement (GAES) in all work units throughout South and Central Kalimantan during 7-17 May 2024.

"Convenience and reliability of electricity supply to customers is PLN's priority so that GAES program was launched as a preventive measure to prevent disturbances," said General Manager of PT PLN Main Distribution Unit (UID) for South and Central Kalimantan Muhammad Joharifin in a written statement in Banjarbaru, Thursday.

This is done by PLN officers in the field as well as antisipating weather changes which are currently difficult to predict, so mitigation needs to be carried out early.

Joharifin pointed out that the implementation of GAES series III was not at half-hearted. In more that a week, PLN is targeting 24,613 Right of Way (ROW) points.

ROW is free space around electricity distribution. The ideal condition is it is free from external factors that have the potential to touch or approach installation, such as trees that need to be pruned or cut down if their position approach or even exceed a safe distance.

"Until now, the main cause or disruption to PLN's electricity network to customers is external factors, such as fallen trees or touching branches approaching the network," said Joharifin.

In addition to ROW maintenance, PLN also maintains and repair 3,915 eletrical infrastructure points so that the network is always in top condition and overcomes disturbances caused by animals by installing animal climbing barrier accessories.

"Maintaining electricity reliability for the entire PLN customers is our duty. Therefore, we always maximize every preventive step to anticipate disruptions," said Joharifin.

PLN deployed 773 joint personnel, both PLN Technical Team and working partners commended by each Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Manager, and supported by 156 fleets, such as cranes, four-wheeled and two wheeled vehicles.

"PLN always goes all out in providing customer comfort through preventive maintenance like this. It is expected that the electricity supply becomes more reliable and people will become more comfortable in their daily activities using electricity," said Joharifin.
