The South Kalimantan chapter of Indonesian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (PBFI) has held bodybuilding sport tournament entitled "Kalimantan Open Body Building Fitness" in Banjarmasin on 25-26 May 2024.
"This activity is accompanied by training for the 2024 grade b/a national jury," said Chairperson of South Kalimantan PBFI Mustohir Arifin here on Sunday.
Initially, he said, the competition was for provincial championship (Kejurprov), but because of the high enthusiasm of participats, it became an open tournament.
"This event also serves athletes to prepare for 21st PON Aceh-North Sumatra," he said.
The open tournament competes in bodybuilding classes of 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 and 80+ kilograms.
Then, men’s athletic class, men’s sport up to 170 class, men’s sport over 170 and men’s woman fitness model.
"All the number being competed are the same as at the national level," said Mustohir.
The activity was combined with giving appreciation to the sponsors who have supported, including South Kalimantan Youth and Sport Agency (Dispora Kalsel), South Kalimantan National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI), Fintens Association, Amel GYM and others.
Head of Achievement Improvement of the South Kalimantan Youth and Sport Agency Heru Susmianto expressed his pride and welcome the PBFI activity positively.
"We hope this activity will be able to produce new athletes to bring South Kalimantan's achievement to national and international," he said.
South Kalimantan, he said, is making bodybuilding one of its mainstay sports to win medals at the 21st National Sports Week (PON) Aceh-North Sumatra 2024.
"For PON 2024, there are four bodybuilding athletes representing South Kalimantan, who are expected to present medals," he said.
