Mayor of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, Muhammad Aditya Mufti Ariffin has instructed sub-district heads and urban village heads to move quickly to prevent dengue fever (localy known as DBD) attack which is still increasing.
 
"We urge sub-district heads and urban village heads to actively intensify the simultaneous movement of Banjarbaru eradicating larvae (Gertak Bapuputik) to reduce dengue infection," he said here, Friday, at a monthly coordination meeting of sub-district heads and urban village heads in the city held at Cempaka Urban Vilage office.
 
The Mayor said that dengue fever which has claimed one life of a child in the city must be an alert and attention of sub-district heads and urban village heads.
 
"We all certainly don't want any more victims to fall, so that all preventive measures must be of common concernand the community feel calm," Aditya said.

He said that dengue fever has spreaded in 19 of 20 urban villages in the city Banjarbaru or only one urban village where no dengue cases found, namely Komet Urban Village.
 
"Thus we urge all parties and the community to play an active role in preventing dengue through Gertak Bapuputik. Don't let places or media mosquitoes to breed around us," he pointed out.

Head of Banjarbaru Health Office Juhai Triyanti Agustina said one patient at Idaman Banjarbaru Hospital was declared dead due to dengue fever.
 
"The patient died on Wednesday (February 21) after being treated for 8 days and initially was diagnosed with dengue and the condition continued to decline until died," she said.
 
Juhai said, 283 dengue cases recorded since early January to February 22, 2024 are expected to be reduced through the Gertak Bapuputik program.
