Head of South Kalimantan Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office Ahmad Solhan said that the Banjabaru-Batulicin toll road completion has reached 65 percent in 2023.

 
"The construction of Banjabaru-Batulicin alternative road is about 100 kilometers," he said in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.

The road construction which began in 2019, according to him, will reach 65 kilometers of paved road by the end of 2023 and it is targeted to be completed in 2024.
 
The road work, he said, is not just asphalting, several bridges are also being built, two even quite  long bridges.
 
"There are also 15 box culverts or culvert bridges," he said.
 
He assured the commitment of South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor to complete the road, so that people could save trip time significantly. 

For comparison, the distance from Banjarmasin to Batulicin is 262.7 km or takes 6 hours 5 minutes, while Banjarbaru-Batulicin 5 hours 33 minutes (249.2 km) via Jalan Ahmad Yani.

Banjabaru-Batulicin road construction which is estimated consuming a budget of IDR1.8 trillion by the end ot year also received the attention of the governor's experts.
 
That day, the South Kalimantan Governor's team of expert in the field of development acceleration Apriansyah together with Syahbuddin, and Wahyuddin carried out inspection of the construction.
 
They were accompanied by Head of PUPR Ahmad Solhan, PUPR Secretary Andri Fadli, Head of Highway Azan Syariful Muaz, Head of the Development Administration Bureau Gusti Rahmad and other officials. 
 
"This is one of the South Kalimantan government's strategic project which have a very good impact on smoothing the traffic flow of goods," said Apriansyah.
 
His team conducted a review and evaluation, so they can find out directly what the obstacles were and weather it could be completed according to the specified target.
 
"Hopefully the Banjarbaru-Batulicin freeway can be completed in 2024," he said.
