The Tanah Bumbu Regency Government, South Kalimantan, held an audience with the Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (PDTT) Ministry for its plan to develop agropolitan rural areas (RPKP).


"This plan is in the discussion stage with the PDTT Ministry," said the Tanah Bumbu Regional Secretary H. Ambo Sakka here, Monday.

The government agencies involved in the process were Community and Village Empowerment Office, PUPR Office, Bappedalitbang, and Agriculture and Food Security Agency.

The Sub-district of Kusan Tengah and 12 village heads are included in the RPKP and RPKP practitioners.

The program is planned to be implemented in Kusan Tengah Sub-district, which consists of 12 villages minus Sardangan Village.

He said this program was considered very important considering Tanah Bumbu's statement that it ready to become a food buffer for the state capital of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan.

By developing agropolitan area, it is hoped that Tanah Bumbu will become the main supplier of food needs in IKN and it will have a positive impact on the welfare of the "Bumi Bersujud" (Tanah Bumbu's nickname) community.

"Insya Allah (God Willing) this program will receive approval from the team involved, and it is reported that the Tanah Bumbu RPKP document is suitable for approval for rural area development and will be included as a national priority," said the Secretary.

In not too long, the assessment team plans to to review the loation of the planned agropolitan area in the district.

Agropolitan is a farming region that grows and develops due to the ongoing agribusiness and system that is able to serve, encourage, attract, the agricultural development activities or agricultural business in the surrounding area.
