State logistics agency Perum Bulog of South Kalimantan Office distributed as many as 11,577 tons of the government's rice reserve (CPP) in two phases in 13 districts and cities this year.


In the first phase from April to May 5,978 tons had been distributed to 199,276 beneficiary families (KPM), and for September until November 5,599 tons prepared to be delivered to 186,646 KPM, 16.5 percent of which have been realized.

“We are speeding up the second phase by one month, because many people are now in need, especially since the drought affecting people's economy,” said Head of South Kalimantan Office of the state logistics Perum Bulog Taufan Akib when launching the distribution of CPP rice in Banjarmasin, Thursday.

This is a central government's program through the  National Food Agency (Bapanas) and assisgns Bulog in every province to distribute 10 kilograms of rice per KPM.

“Each KPM receive 10 kg of rice per month, the same as the first stage, later each KPM will receive rice assistance three times in a row,” he said.

The second phase of CPP distribution in South Kalimantan is extended through three office, namely the South Kalimantan Office (Kanwil Bulog Kalsel) covering Banjarbaru City, Banjarmasin City, Banjar District, Tanah Laut District, and Barito Kuala District.

Then, through Barabai Branch Office that covers the districts of Cental Hulu Sungai, North Hulu Sungai, South Hulu Sungai, Balangan, Tabalong, and Tapin. The third is the Sub-branch Office (KCP) of Kotabaru covers Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu.

He hopes that the CPP rice assistance will be sufficient for people in need.

Meanwhile, the current rice supply in South Kalimantan are considered safe until the end of 2023. “Rice stock in South Kalimantan is around 6,577 tons, enough until the end of year,” said Taufan Akib.

Acting Head of Banjarmasin Office of Agriculture, Food Security, and Fisheries (DKP3) Muhammad Makhmud said that the city is now in the process of scheduling second phase distribution.

“Currently we are still discussing technical matters, we are trying to complete residents' identity to this rice aid in order to be right on target to the people in need,” he said.
