The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is collaborating with online travel agents (OTAs) for the provision of travel offers and discounts for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr exodus period.
The ministry has lauded several OTAs for the collaboration, saying the offers that they are providing have been highly anticipated and are part of efforts to make the prices of tickets and accommodation more affordable.
"The promotional offers vary starting from 10 percent (discount) to a price cut of up to Rp1 million (around US$67.25)," Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said in an official statement released here on Tuesday.
The offers are expected to attract Eid exodus travelers to various tourist destinations, tourism villages, tourist attractions, and others, he added.
"This is supported by the extension of the Eid holiday period in 2023 and is expected to increase the number of trips, length of stay, and expenditure of domestic tourists," the minister said.
There are several OTAs that are collaborating with the ministry, including Atourin, which is offering a 10-percent discount on all its products.
Meanwhile, Mister Aladin is giving offers on hotel stays, train tickets, plane tickets, and tour packages, including a price cut of Rp200 thousand (around US$13.45) on hotel bookings and a 50-percent discount on tour packages to five Super Priority Tourist Destinations (DPSP).
In addition, there is Traveloka, which is providing offers for transportation, accommodation, to tourism activities, starting from a 10-percent discount to a Rp1-million price cut.
Earlier, at ‘The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno’ on April 3, 2023, Uno said that his ministry is targeting 300 million to 350 million domestic tourist trips during the Eid exodus and holiday period.
The figure is 25 percent of the 1.4 billion domestic tourist trips targeted for the whole year.
