South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor said that Ramadhan Cake Fair is part of preservation of regional culture which continues to be maintained.
 
He pointed out that Ramadhan Cake Fair presents variety of culinary specialities of regional culture heritage, especially Banjar specialities.

"What are rare except in the month of Ramadan," said Sahbirin when officiating Ramadhan Cake Fair 1444 Hijriah/2023 at the popular attraction of Siring Sungai Martapura (Martapura River Embankment), Banjarmasin, Thursday (March 23, 2023).
 
Various typical Banjar cakes for iftar which only appear during Ramadan, such as bingka, amparan tatak, sari muka, sari panganten, and kararaban.
 
The governor, who familiarly called Uncle Birin, said that Ramadhan Cake Fair was built by the provincial government free of charge for traders as an effort to preserve the culture which is held every Ramadan in South Kalimantan.
 
"The provision of free booths is proof of the government's presence in the midst of the community,” said Sahbirin.

Ramadhan Cake Fair, he said, is eagerly awaited by the people of the City of Banjarmasin and its surroundings, after similar activities during the previous Ramadan were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the last two years.
 
"We hope that people's economy will continue to grow," Sahbirin said.
 
Head of South Kalimantan Cooperative and MSMEs Office Gusti Yanuar Noor Rifai said that there were 105 boths at the Ramadhan Cake Fair.
 
All were filled with cake products, food and drinks, Banjar specialities, plus booth for the office to control inflation.
 
"So there are also booths to sell basic necesstities, such as sugar, eggs, and others at low prices," said Yanuar.
