Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar plans to build a sea toll lane from Kotabaru to South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi.
"The docks built by the government in the Gosong Gulf, East Pulaulaut will be used for loading and discharge for ferry enroutes Kotabaru, Barru, South Sulawesi, and Mamuju, West Sulawesi," said Regent in Kotabaru, Thursday.
Why should South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi? Regent said, about 30 percent of population comes from the Bugis, who have lived in Kotabaru and have historical relationship with Barru and Mamuju.
According to him, with the opening of sea transportation which has a high intensity it will tighten silaturrahim, as well as regional efforts to accelerate the pace of economic growth in each region.
Meanwhile, Kotabaru cruise with South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi served by pioneer ship KM Sabuk Nusantara 55, owned by the state company PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni).
Before the PT Pelni ship, Kotabaru-Sulawesi served by KM Delta Sembada, privately-owned shipping company. But starting in 2016, the cruise for Kotabaru-Sulawesi-Tanah Bumbu served by PT Pelni ships.
