A total 436 participants from 13 districts and cities compete to grab Governor's Cup at the South Kalimantan Karate Championship.
Governor H Sahbirin Noor, concurrently Chairman of the Indonesian Karate-Do Federation (FORKI) for South Kalimantan, remarked that the championship held at Borneo Indoor Futsal Banjarmasin March 19-20, 2022 was a warm-up ahead of the 2022 Provincial Sport Week (Porprov) to be held in South Hulu Sungai (HSS).
He hoped that the championship will produce talented athletes to be later make a good name of the province not only at the regional scale, but national and international as well.
"Of course to realize this hope all athletes who represent their respective regions need to work hard to apply their knowledge at this year's championship," said Uncle Birin, his nickname.
The provincial championship applied a new competition system, World Karate Federation (WKF), as determined by the central board of FORKI.
Governor emphasized that the referees or judges should be professional and fair in their assessment.
"We hope that the referees and juries in this match will act fairly. No likes and dislikes for the participants," he said.
