Chairman of the Central Board of the Association of Young Indonesian Businesspeople (BPP Hipmi) Mardani H Maming wants young entrepreneurs to be able to support the agricultural sector to be more advanced.
"Young entrepreneurs must play a role in this strategic sector. It's time for millennial farmers to do more to advance Indonesia's agriculture," Mardani said to ANTARA, Tuesday.
He appreciated the Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Support Services (YESS) program from the Ministry of Agriculture which seeks to create strong millennial entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.
Producing 2.5 million new millennial farmers to replace farmers, who are now dominated by the elderly, is the goal of YESS program which started in 2019 and to end in 2025.
"Hipmi is ready to collaborate if needed, let's together create strong food security and Indonesia must be able to be self-sufficient in food," said Mardani.
The owners of the Enam Sembilan Grup continue to demonstrate his commitment to the development of the agricultural sector. One of which is through PT Enam Sembilan Benih, which has just launched an innovation product for hybrid corn seeds "JAB69-01 SAKTI" to take part in advancing the production of maize crops for Indonesian farmers.
Cooperating with PT Daun Agro Nusantara in demo plots and distribution of corn seeds to several provinces, one of which is North Sumatra, which is the fourth largest corn barn after East Java, Central Java, and Lampung.
"Currently, we are conducting varietal adaptation tests in 15 districts in North Sumatra. Hopefully the results are good and farmers are optimistic because the hybrid corn being developed is the result of crossing 2 or more varieties with superior characteristics," said the former Regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan.
