The City Government of Banjarmasin through the Health Office has received an additional 32,000 doses of the Sinovac type of COVID-19 vaccine to intensify the vaccination program for children.

"We have distributed the 32,000 doses vaccine to 26 puskesmas (community health center), so people can get vaccinated," said Head of Health Agency Machli Riyadi here on Friday.

According to him, the tens of thousand of additional vaccine of China production were received from the central government on Wednesday.

"Now that we have a lot of vaccine stock, So puskesmas can schedule vaccination to schools," he said.

Banjarmasin, he said, is now in the midst of spike of COVID-19 cases that has reached over 300 active cases. Vaccination must be intensified, especially for children who are undergoing face-to-face learning (PTM).

"Yesterday  it was delayed, because the vaccine stock was running low. Now that we have a lot, so we can intensify it again," he said.

According to Machli Riyadi, the target for vaccination of children aged 6-11 years is approximately 70,000 in the city.

"This is an effort to accelerate the building of herd immunity in Banjarmasin that we must quickly realize it," he said again.
