Head of Banjarmasin Health Office Machli Riyadi said 95 percent of people exposed to COVID-19 in the city presently were asymptomatic.

Machli Riyadi here on Wednesday (January 2, 2022), said that of 224 people now being infected were known to be asymptomatic after PCR test.

"But don't panic, keep being cautious," he said.

He urged all to be vigilant due to the significant increase in COVID-19 case. Everyone must escalate the implementation of health protocols.

"We urge those who are positive to self-isolate for 5 days. Keep exercising, have fruit and vitamin," he said.

According to him, the other 5 percent with symptoms some are treated at the hospitals. They are are being well-monitored. 

Machli Riyadi acknowledged that quite a lot of students are exposed to COVID-19, the number detected is 44 people.

"This is known from th random sample test of 229 children, both SD and SMP," he said.

As it was reported, four junior high schools (SMP) had to resumed online learning after some of their students were exposed to COVID-19.
