Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Local government owned water company PDAM Amuntai in North Hulu Sungai must dredge the shallow base of Balangan River due to drought.
"We rake manually 4x7 meters with a depth of 2 meters in order to suction water intake locations more smoothly," said Director of PDAM Amuntai Muhammad Syafi'i here on Tuesday.
Syafi'i said that despite the long drought, the production of drinking water home to home customer remains smooth. While taps production in other areas is reduced to 50 percent, Amuntai taps remain in full production.
"We benefited from the flow meeting of Tabalong river and Balangan river, so the discharge of river water as raw material taps remain capable of supplying the needs of the production," he said.
Syafi'i also grateful clean water crisis does not happen even in the area of far border villages.
Water supply to remote rural areas in the border is supported by Clean Water Treatment Plant (IPA) in various sub-districts.
Thanks to IPA districts, he said, the pipeline taps have been able to reach villages on the border like Tebing Lereng Village and Tayur bordering Tabalong. Here IPA Muara Baruh producing 25 liters water/sec./Eddy Abdillah
