The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded inflation in South Kalimantan in December 2021 stood at 0.76 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 109.49, up from 108.67 in November 2021.
Head of South Kalimantan BPS Yos Rusdiansyah in a press release received by Antara News on Tuesday noted that three (refeence) cities in the province, namely Banjarmasin, Tanjung, and Kotabaru all experienced inflation.
"Inflation in Banjarmasin 0.80 percent with a CPI of 109.41, Tanjung 0.38 percent with a CPI of 109.38, and Kotabaru 0.62 percent with a CPI 110.29," he said.
The inflation was triggered by a significant increase in the prices of eight group of expenditure pengeluaran secara signifikan, namely the group recreation, sport, and culture by 0.35 percent.

The food, beverage, and tobacco group by 1.15 percent, group of transportation 2.52 percent, the group of household equipment, tools, and rouine maintenance 0.33 percent.
Food and beverage/restaurant supply group 0.14 percent, housing, electricity, water and gas group 0.44 percent, health 0.22 percent, and the group of clothing and foot wear 0.68 percent.
Commodities that contributed the highest inflation were air transportation, hot chili, papaya, edible oil, household fuel, red chili, broiler eggs, Muslim women's wear, and eggplant.
Based on the calender year, in December 2021 South Kalimantan recorded an inflation of 2.55 percent. While year on year inflation rate (December 2021 to December 2020) 2.55 percent.
