South Kalimantan agriculture commodities export rose significantly by 70 percent to reach IDR10.5 trillion during 2021 compared to IDRp3.8 trillion in 2020, said the governor.

Governor Sahbirin Noor was speaking here on Friday as he flagged off the export of 13.33 thousand tons of plantation commodities worth IDR180.6 billion at the Trisakti Container Port in Banjarmasin.

The Governor, at the same time of Indonesian export simultaneous releasing from 34 export gates, said that the South Kalimantan's agri-export has increased signficantly every year and it was influeced by the increase in export commodities and export destination.

Some of South Kalimantan's agri-export destination are China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Russia, India, Taiwan, and Japan.

"The increase in export is the result of extraordinary performace that is highly waiting for," he said.

Head of the Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine Agency Nur Hartanto said that the world will increase the export value of agricultural commodities in 2022.

Some of plantation commodities which are routinely exported including swallow nest, ornamental plants, and the latest is porang (elephant foot yam).

"Especially for porang, we have started to export and next year we will encourage it to continue to increase, while the swallow's nest have been exported through Java," he said.

In the future, he pointed out, the Banjarmasin Quarantine Center will seek to export the swiftlet nest directly from South Kalimantan, not as before, they had to go through Surabaya.

In addition to encouraging the growth of new export commodities, the Quarantine continue to provide guidance to prospective exporters.
