Rainfall with high intensity at the mountains area and the surrounding has resulted in the Hantakan River overflowing and inundating some roads in the Barabai City and several villages in the sub-districts on Monday, November 15, 2021.

Head Executive of Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) H Budi Haryanto reported the water level in the capital range between 20-75 cm. He asked people to remain calm, but alert, and secure their valuables.

The areas that flooded were Padawangan, Jalan Tri Kesuma Barabai Darat, Hevia, Munti Raya, Kodim 1002/HST dormitory, Barabai Darat, Pelajar Field, Dwi Warna Field, the front of HST regent's residence, Barabai market, Jalan Penas Tani behind Yonif 621, and several villages in Batu Benawa and Haruyan sub-districts.

The agency has established a command post for handling the flood at the Murakata Stadium and urged people to stay calm but remain alert while the agency keeps working to control the water condition and to report to residents if it rises.

"Currently the weather is still cloudy and rainfall is stil posiible to occur with mild to heavy intensity," he said.
