For the reason of lack of Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) reagent, the Tapin government-owned hospital in Rantau has temporarily suspended independent PCR test.
Director of the General Hospital of Datu Sanggul dr. Milhan here on Saturday said that the individually-requested PCR tests service was suspended temporarily.
"It is not stopped, but temporarily postponed because the supply of reagent at the distributor is running down," he said.
Taking that into account, the hospital prioritizes PCR tests for COVID-19 detection for the Tapin community.
"So the priority is given to patients with possible COVID symptoms, close contact, or tracing and tracking results," he explained.
He could not predict when the liquid could be obtained from the distributor. If the reagent is met, the service will be reopened.
COVID-19 cases in the Tapin were recorded as of Wednesday (July 14, 2021) with 1,240 positive cases, 1,166 recoveries, 26 people were treated, and 48 people died.
On Saturday (August 21, 2021) the positive number jumped to 2,194, while 178 were being treated, 1,936 recovered, and 80 died.
Thus, during 39 days 954 other residents of Tapin were confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 and 32 people died.
