Deep into the rainforest of Balangan, there is an awesome waterfall in the hamlet of Jajanang, Mamigang Village, Halong Sub-district, which is set to be the new tourist destination.
"This weekend, we explored a waterfall that has the potential to be further developed to attract tourist visit to Balangan. This is the third exploration of objects of tourism after previously Riam Bainggi waterfall in Tebing Tinggi Sub-district and Buntar waterfall also in Halong," said Regent Abdul Hadi, Sunday.
He told to get to the waterfall, which some people considered the most exotic in South Kalimantan, he and his entourage had to go through the forest using dirt bikes. Then continued by walking through fairly extreme terrain passing uphill roads and sideways of ravines, as well as crossing rivers.
It was quite far by foot. It took about six hours, but the beauty offered by the Batarius waterfall was in line with expectations.
"The Batarius waterfall was amazing and we will develop this as a mainstay tourist destination for Balangan, especially the road access to make it easy for tourists to reach. We ask the PUPR office to follow up on road access, the Tourism Office to develop the attraction points,"j he said.
The tourism sector is one of the focuses of Balangan due to consideration of big opportunities from an economic perspective. With its natural wealth, Balangan's opportunity to get a lot of income from tourism is very wide open.
"Many things can be developed into business, as well as adding job opportunities for the community, of course it will indirectly lift the economy of the surrounding community," he said.
