Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Price some types of rice in Kotabaru Distric, South Kalimantan, remains high, although farmers started to enter the harvest season.

Sholikhah, a farmer in Bumi Asih, South Kelumpang, said despite the farmers began to harvest, some people still buy rice at a price of Rp8,000 to Rp8,500 per kilogram.

"The price is considered high by the community, because when bad season it was about Rp9.000 to Rp11.000 per kilogram for modest quality," she said in Kotabaru, Wednesday.

With the price conditions, some farmers feel disadvantaged, especially those already harvested because they could sell rice to middlemen at a price of Rp7,000 per kg.

But some people who did not grow rice complain, because farmers have entered the harvest season but the price relatively high.

Sholikhah admitted, many traders come into farmers homes to buy rice, then sold to Kotabaru at much higher price than in rural.

Earlier, the head of Bulog Kotabaru Rony Hadianto said Bulog in 2015 targets to buy rice from local farmers around 1,500 tonnes. "Since the average realization absorption is only about 1,600 tons per year, so the 2015 period we only target 1,500 tons of rice," he explained.

Ron admitted, it is optimistic to realize the target, because the government has raised the Government Purchase Price (GPP) from Rp1.600 to Rp7.300 per kilogram.
