Mukhyar said, the agency does not prohibit people to earn a living from the waste in the landfill that was built since the 2000's, but he hopes they keep order and maintain health awareness.
His agency socialized to use medical equipment and safety standards. "Like disposable gloves, masks, and boots while on work in the landfill that we ask not to be abandoned," he said.
He stated, every day the economic turnaround in the landfill area is large enough, it can even reach tens of millions. "You can imagine, 200 people if they have an average income by Rp50 thousand per day then a total would be Rp10 millions," he said.
That is why many people are able to live with earn a fortune in the landfill which covers about 40 hectares, although they know the work is full of risks, especially health.
As is known, the production of waste in the City of "Thousand Rivers" which has a population of about 750 thousand people reached 600 tons per day, and over half of them disposed to landfill.
