South Kalimantan Hajj prospective pilgrims (JCH) are again asked to be patient to accept the government's decision not to send Hajj pilgrims to the Holy Land this year.

Head of South Kalimantan Office of Religious Affairs Ministry (Kanwil Kemenag) H Noor Fahmi here on Thursday said that the government through the Religious Affairs Minister announced today not to send Hajj pilgrims this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fahmi said that the government decision is very clear that the main and the most basic point of suspending the departure of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims this year is regarding the safety of the pilgrims.

“The decision is very clear that the health and safety of pilgrims is the main concern in the wake of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) that is still engulfing the world," he pointed out.

Fahmi asked all people, especially Hajj candidates, to be able to accept this decision patiently and to understand the intention of suspending the departure.

"The government consider that the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still engulfing almost all countries in the world, including Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, could threaten the safety of the pilgrims. Whereas the cases in Indonesia and some other countries in the past week has not shown a significant decline," he added.

Fahmi then asked his staff to immediately socialize the government's decision to cancel the departure of the prospective Hajj pilgrims.
