Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru regency, South Kalimantan, to revitalize 17 ports or docks in remote areas to encourage economic growth.


"Repairs and upgrades to the dock is urgent to improve the smoothness of the distribution of goods and services in the area," said Head of the Transportation and Communications Information Agency Sugian Noor here on Friday.

17 dock to be revitalized include Sungai Pasir, Kampung Baru, Kerayaan, Teluk Gosong, Gedambaan, Berangas, and Lontar Selatan, Tanjung Kunyit II and III, Tengah Pulau Sembilan, Pembelacanan, Sungai Punggawa, Sampanahan, Sampanahan Hilir, Gunung Batu Besar, Manunggul Lama and Perencanaan Pantai.

"Repairing the piers budgeted Rp5 billion," added the Head of Marine Transportation Affairs Densi Lumembang.

Previously, Sugian said, the agency also revitalized the docks which still using wood construction into concrete construction.

"Most of the existing quays in Kotabaru islands still using construction of ironwood," he added.
