The Banjarmasin Education Agency stated that 70 percent of elementary schools (SD) in the city are ready to conduct face-to-face learning in the new academic year of 2021/2022.

Head of Elementary School Development of the agency Nuryadi said the new school year is a challenge for the education world to carry out new normal teaching and learning activities, namely face-to-face learning in July 2021.

According to him, the simulation for grade 6 on the face-to-face final exam had been carried out well with strict COVID-19 health protocols.

"The point is that schools in the city on average ready for face-to-face learning. According to the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB), there must be approval from the respective local government," he said.

The agency, he said, will wait for the city government's decision in implementing the learning in the new academic year. "Of course, we will consider the development of the COVID-19 pandemic," Nuryadi pointed out.

The number of state elementary school (SDN) in five sub-district in the city is 208, while private elementary school is 48, bringing the total to 256.

"70 percent of SD in the city are ready for face-to-face learning under strict health protocol supervision," he said.

Previously, Head of the Education Office Totok Agus Daryanto said that the scenario of face-to-face learning in the 2021-2022 school year has been prepared carefully by a number of schools.
