South Kalimantan received flood disaster assistance from the central government amounting to IDR66 billion provided through the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
The Provincial Secretary of South Kalimantan Roy Rizali Anwar here on Thursday said the stimulus fund will be used to help build or renovate houses for 3,942 residents affected by flood in five districts.
The five districts are Banjar, Barito Kuala, Central Hulu Sungai (HST), Tanah Laut, and Balangan.
"This is the first stage of assistance from the central government. Then, we will assured that the distribution of fund is in accordance with provisions in planning, implementation, and reporting stages," he pointed out.
According to Roy, his party will begin to compile technical instruction according to the conditions of each area.
"We will also ask BNPB to help make a timeline and supervision, what to do in the first week, the following week until all stages are completed," he said.
While assistance cost, such as for monitoring, will be supported by local government funds, both provincial and district or city.
"Hopefully we can absorb this aid optimally, run well, and benefit the community at large," he said.

Previously, BNPB's Deputy for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Rifai MBA, in a coordination meeting for the finalization of housing aid distribution due to the South Kalimantan flood disaster, said that of 12 districts and cities proposed only five could be realized for infrastructure and housing reconstruction.
"From data, there are 3,942 recipients of the IDR66 billion budget allocation. I want to make sure that the technical arrangement is carried out, because the implementation time is very short, a maximum of 2-3 months," he said.
"We will guard this program so that those who receive assistance to build or renovate houses are truly the ones who have the right," he said.
