Acting Governor of South Kalimantan Safrizal ZA, in the company of Tanah Laut Regent HM Sukamta, handed out assistance to houses of worship and foundations in the district.

He also handed over the assistance of 5,000 antigen rapid test kits to the Regent as an effort to cut the spread of COVID-19.

Acting Governor, who was in his Ramadhan 1442 Hijriyah Safari to districts and cities in the province, appreciated the government of Tanah Laut (Tala) in handling COVID-19.

The Tala government prohibits its residents from making an exodus for mudik (homecoming) tradition during Eid season, but open places of attraction with limited hours.

He said the Tala government gives freedom to the public to perform worship during the holy month of Ramadhan, such as tarawih (prayer), witir (prayer), and tadarus (Quran reciting) while carrying out rules during the pandemic.

"I advise that all to apply, even more stringent, health protocols, so we can reduce the spread of COVID-19," he pointed out.

Safrizal said that the provincial government allows the Idul Fitri prayer as long as it meets health protocols and only attended by 50 percent of the congregation.

He also warned about the ferocity of the new variant of the virus that occurred in India. Many predict that it could spread to various countries.

Thus, he emphasized that the public can respect the government's prohibition to not going home (mudik) in order to cut off the spread for two weeks.
He was worried that because of mudik a new cluster of COVID-19 occurs.
