The Balangan district-run water company PDAM Balangan will replace water distribution from originally used a pontoon into well system or intake well.

"We will build an intake well, the concept of which comes from France. This system can reduce the risk of engine failure and be more effective in obtaining water," said acting Director of PDAM Balangan Murjani, Wednesday.

He pointed out that improving services for residents is prioritized, especially for the smooth distribution of clean water.

Murjani, who is also head of the Awayan Sub-district Installation (IKK), said he has programmed services improvement, among others by fixing PDAM operational equipment, including pumping and machinery.

The intake well mechanism is considered to be able to handle the problem of water not running during the flood. So that there will be no more incidents of pontoon overturning due to the swift flow of river water.

In the process, PDAM has coordinated with the River Management Agency (BWS) for the making of intake well, as the method has been applied to the Awayan IKK.

"We already have an intake well in Awayan IKK, because the system is considered effective, so we will also apply it to water collection points in other sub-district," he explained.

The company plans to build two intake wells, one in Pandau Mount and the other in Paringin Selatan. The funds are budgeted to reach IDR5 billion.
