South Kalimantan Police set to implement electronic traffic law enforcement (e-TLE) or e-ticketing beginning April 27, 2021, in Banjarmasin.
"Insya Allah (God Willing), if it is approved by the National Headquarters (Mabes Polri), we will participate in the phase 2 launching of e-TLE nationally at the end of April," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Insp.Gen. Rikwanto in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.
Preparations are ongoing, such as installing equipment, the readiness of members as operators, and the socialization to the public.
At the first stage, e-TLE cameras are installed in three places, namely the intersection on Jalan Ahmad Yani km 6, the intersection of Hotel Mentari, and Jalan Lambung Mangkurat.
According to Rikwanto, e-TLE will record all activities of passing drivers. Each violation will be processed and the offender will be sent a ticket to the house according to the address recorded in the vehicle documents.
"The implementation of e-TLE is expected to create a culture of orderly traffic because road users know they are continuously monitored for 1x24 hours even though there is no police on the field," he said.

The Police Chief also assured there will be no longer "peace" agreement between officer and offender, because their interaction can be eliminated and ultimately creates uncompromising transparency.
Acting Governor of South Kalimantan Safrizal enthusiastically welcomed the e-TLE. He fully supported it and the provincial government ready to budget funds to assist the police in its preparation.
The South Kalimantan Police's Director of Traffic Sr Comr Maesa Soegriwo said that e-TLE can detect 10 violations, namely traffic light, road marking, odd-even, safety belts, using cellphones while driving, speed limits, against the current, no helmet, restriction on certain type of vehicle, vehicle registration (STNK) or not paying tax.
The phase 1 e-TLE nationally launched by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit PrabowoPe on Tuesday for 12 provincial police (Polda), namely Polda Metro Jaya, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Jambi, Riau, West Sumatra, Lampung, south Sulawesi, and North Sulawesi.
