Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - National company PT Sumberdaya Sewatama will build biogas power plants from palm shells in Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan.
Independent Commissioner of PT Sumberdaya Sewatama Dr Todung Mulya Lubis in Banjarmasin on Tuesday said the plans to build biogas power plants as part of efforts to support national economic growth target by seven percent.
"President Joko Widodo targeting national economic growth could reach seven percent, then we will help by setting up power plants in the regions," he said.
According to him, the power plant is one of the vital need for investment in the area. Without adequate electricity, then the investment will be difficult to realize.
One is in South Kalimantan province, which is still a severe shortage of electrical energy resources. It is characterized by frequent blackouts.
Medium-term investment that is being planned by the company he led would be one solution to meet the power needs of the industry in the area.
Company Secretary, Nadia Diposanjoyo, said plans to build a biogas electricity is now in the process of studies to ascertain the potential for the development of electricity from palm oil.
From the results of the last two weeks of the study, the potential for the development of biogas plants is quite large, at this time of growth of oil palm plantations in South Kalimantan, especially in Tanah Bumbu, quite rapid and large.
Besides going to build a biogas power plant, the company has built a short-term plant in the form of diesel power plants of 50 megawatts, which are scattered among others in Trisakti Banjarmasin, Maburai Tabalong, and in Tapin.
