Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalimantan) - South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Brigjen Machfud Arifin said, disclosure of drug cases in the province is still the highest, with 1,794 cases.


"The drug case is still "number one" among other cases in South Kalimantan," he said in a press conference about the social order and the case disclosure of year 2014 at the regional police headquarters on Tuesday.

According to him, the disclosure of drug cases in South Kalimantan became the fifth-highest in Indonesia, so it can be concluded illicit circulation of goods is still the main enemy of the region.

"Even for evidence of illicit drug ecstasy was increased to seven folds higher than the previous year, while crystal methamphetamine increased two-fold," he said.

He revealed the disclosure of the data is the illicit drug ecstasy and methamphetamine in this region in 2014, ie 21,378 ecstasy pills and 11,739 grams or more than 11 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

"While in 2013 ecstasy seized only 3,098 pills, and about five kilograms crystal methamphetamine," he said.

Despite increased disclosure of the case, he said, catching of drug abuse suspect is likely to decline from the previous year.

According to him, the drug dealers should be severely punished, because they are very destructive to the life and thought of society.

"We will always coordinated the one with the court to impose severe penalties for drug kingpins, yes, to the death penalty," he said.
