Amuntai, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The North Hulu Sungai Family Welfare Movement or PKK promotes some processed food menu, such as cake, made from talipuk flour in the Floating Market Cultural Festival in Banjarmasin.


Chairman of the HSU PKK Hj Risnin said on Thursday, talipuk or lotus flour can be processed into various dishes and cakes, such as traditional bingka cake, cake ring, layer cake, pais (leaf wrap cake), porridge, cendol up till sponge cake and brownies.

Lotus plants grow in wetlands and by most people only regarded as ordinary flower. It can be processed into flour for baking raw materials and a variety of processed foods.

"Dry seeds of talipuk then ground into flour," said Hj Risnin through a press release.

Talipuk flour taste is not much different with rice and wheat flour that is sold in the market.

Risnin said, the district of HSU about 89 percent dominated by swamp land overgrown with lotus plants.
