Two days before South Kalimantan begins the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination, 5.480 doses of China-based Sinovac Biotech's vaccine arrived. This is the second stage of shipment after 25 thousand doses were received on January 5, 2021.
"We carry out maximum security in guarding the arrival of vaccine today," said Head of Public Relation of South Kalimantan Provincial Police Sr Comr (Kombespol) Mochamad Rifa’i in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.
The vaccines, which are stored in three boxes, were immediately taken to the Pharmacy Warehouse and Health Equipment Installation Building at Jalan Ahmad Yani km 22 Banjarbaru, shortly after arriving at the Syamsudin Noor International Airport, Banjarmasin.
The police, he said, carry out security for 1x24 hours in the vaccine storage warehouse. Each team on guard consists of six Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel, four members of Samapta Directorate, and three members of Banjarbaru Police.
Then in the process of distribution to districts and cities up to the vaccination for people at the community health centers (puskesmas), the police will escort the implementation to run safely and smoothly.

Head of South Kalimantan Health Agency Muslim said the first phase of distribution began that day to three destinations, namely Banjarmasin City, Banjarbaru City, and Banjar District.
"Based on the direction of Director-General for Disease Prevention and Control (P2P), vaccine distribution is prioritized to the provincial capital and buffer areas," he said.
Vaccination begins January 14, 2021 to the priority target of health workers and to be marked by the injection to regional heads, Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), and community leaders.
