Pertamina has designated Kotabaru fuel terminal (FT) in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, as the supply point for Pertamina Dex's consignment product for Pulang Pisau and Sampit FT in Central Kalimantan and Banjarmasin integrated terminal (IT) in South Kalimantan as an effort to ensure fuel availability.
The Kotabaru FT Manager Syahwin A. Saleh said that this policy is in line with the work program of Pertamina Marketing Operation Region VI in 2021 that Pertamina Dex for FT and IT in South and Central Kalimantan are supplied via tankers from Kotabaru FT as the main supply port.
"The designation of Kotabaru FT as the supply point due to the distance of sea supply from the Kotabaru FT to IT and FT in South and Central Kalimantan is nearer," he noted in a press release, Tuesday.
"Another region is to increase Pertadex buffer stock in Kalimantan, especially South Kalimantan,” said Syahwin.
Initial trials for the acceptance of Pertamina Dex as much as 300,000 liters through MT Towo Aryo were held on January 2 and 3.
Kotabaru FT has prepared two storage tanks for Pertamina Dex, each with a capacity of 500,000 liters, bringing the total to 1,000,000 liters.
Kotabaru FT, which has a fairly complete laboratory and has been accredited by thee National Accreditation Committee (KAN), is ready to take advantage of itsfacilities for the distribution of ex FAME which has been converted into Pertadex distribution line and storage tanks to filling shed.
This step was taken to support the increasing demand for gasoil, especially Pertamina Dex in the future. Pertamina Dex consumption trend is getting more popular due to its use makes vehicles more durable. Pertamina Dex is a high quality fuel very suitable for new diesel engine vehicles.
Kotabaru FT can distribute gasoil products (Solar, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex) of about 1,400 KL/day which are distributed to retails (SPBU) and industry in South and Central Kalimantan.
Executive General Manager for Kalimantan Regional Freddy Anwar explained, “With Pertadex consignment supply point in Kotabaru FT, supply availability will be guaranteed with a distance close to South and Central Kalimantan FT and IT compared to the previous shipment from Balikpapan.”
Meanwhile, the RU V Balikpapan Refinery will still be used as an alternative supply or emergency supply to IT and FT if at any time Pertadex stock in Kotabaru FT is insufficient.
