South Kalimantan recorded 0.79 percent inflation in December 2020 with a consumer price index (IHK) of 106,77.


Head of the South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) M Edy Mahmud in Banjarbaru City on Monday said that the inflation rate of Banjarmasin was 0.83 percent, Tanjung 0.42 percent and Kotabaru 0.63 percent.

"Inflation occurred due to the prices increase, which was shown by rising indexes of most expenditure group, while indexes for other group have decreased," he said.

Based on the calendar year, South Kalimantan in December 2020 experienced inflation of 1.68 percent and it happens to be the same as the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2020 to December 2019) of 1.68 percent. 

The transportation group rose by 4.63 percent followed by the group of food, beverages, and tobacco 1.15 percent, and the group of clothing and footwear 0.32 percent.

Then, the group of food and beverages preparation/restaurant 0.1 percent, the group of equipment, appliances, and household routine maintenance group 0.09 percent.

The group of health 0.07 percent, and the group of information, communication and financial service 0.03 percent. While the indexes of other groups decreased.

The highest contribution to inflation included air transportation, chicken eggs, hot chilies, red chilies, and snakehead fish. While commodities that prices decreased were chicken meat, gold jewelry, cinemas, shallot, and mackerel.

The indexes for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel down by 0.07 percent, personal care and other services group fell by 0,57 percent.

Furthermore, the group of recreation, sport, and culture 2.04 percent. Meanwhile, the group of education did not change in price index compared to November 2020.
