The Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H. Achmad Fikry accompanied by Head of HSS Manpower, Cooperatives, Small Business, and Industry Agency (Disnakerkop UKP) Hendro Martono handed over halal certificates to 17 small and medium industries (IKM).
Head Section of Industry of the agency Syamsuddin in Kandangan on Tuesday (Dec 29, 2020) said that the halal certification is to ensure that the food they produced are halal, both in term of raw material and the process of production, and to further expand their product marketing.
"The facilitation of halal certificates for 10 food industries (IKM pangan) in HSS in 2020 came from the district budget and seven others were facilitated by deconcentration budget of the Directorate-General of Small, Medium, and Various Enterprises (IKMA) of the Industry Ministry," he said.

Food industries that received the facilitation in 2020 consisted of various processed food, including kalulut honey, cinnamon syrup, mariam bread, various snacks, and ionized salt. They scattered in Kandangan, Sungai Raya, Angkinang, Telaga Langsat, Padang Batung, and Loksado Sub-districts.
Regent said he highy appreciated the halal certificates pursued by the small and medium businesses in the food sector. According to him, by obtaining halal certificates and label the business will add value and increase public confidence because it is in accordance with Islamic law.
"We also hope that someday all products in HSS will have halal certificates, as a form of shared responsibility," he said in his remarks.
