The supply of various types of marine fish is now abundant at the Banjar Raya Fishery Port, Banjarmasin, and it may cause fish prices to fall ahead of 2021.

Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Fishery Port of the Banjarmasin Fisheries and Maritime Office Rusdi Hartono here on Monday said that in the last few days three to four ships with a capacity of 10 to 15 tons enter the port every day.

The highly supply of fish has resulted in two units of cold storage each with a capacity of 100 tons were fully loaded. So were three freezer containers with a capacity of approximately 15 tons, thus it is estimated that the need for fish will be met properly until the New Year.

The fish, he said, came from the catch of fishermen from Java Island, as well as from local fishermen in Kotabaru, Tanah Bumbu, and Tanah Laut.

In one day, the demand of marine fish at the Banjar Raya Fish Port reaches 100 tons, to be distributed to the South and Central Kalimantan regions.

The mackerel and hawksbill fish were previously sold at above IDR30 thousand per kg here, but now down to around IDR22 thousand. Other fish, such as common tuna sold at IDR15 thousand, while Spanish mackerel, milkfish, and pomfret still above IDR40 thousand per kg.

A fish dealer, Ludruk, said that the demand for fish is quite high, but due to the abundant stock, prices are relatively stable and even decreased.
