For example the price of one Iwak Haruan (sneakhead fish) fora large size one kilogram, since last week until now remained Rp70,000/kg, and the size of half a kilogram per head 60,000/Kg.
"Especially Iwak papuyu (damselfish) which is excellent dish for the people of Banjar, the price reached 100,000/kg or more expensive if the size of eight heads in one kilogram," she said.
Therefore, said the grandmother of two grandchildren, many people choose to buy chicken or beef for a side dish to eat at home with the family instead of buying a freshwater fish that price soared.
But for those in need, such as a restaurant or catering businesses, would have to buy the fresh water as one of the characteristic peculiarities of Banjar cuisine, said Hj Nurul.
While Minah (35), a wet fish seller in Kertak Hanyar Market, Banjar District, said she could not purchase freshwater fish in large quantities.
Because, in addition to hard to get the number of a lot, also the price is "larang banar" (very expensive), so it is feared people would not buy, because there are still options for side dishes.
"For example, the price of whole free-range chickens (ayam kampung) only about Rp40,000/kg and the price of beef per kilogram ranged 100,000.00 - Rp105.000. Especially when broilers cheaper than ayam kampung," said Minah.
