The South Kalimantan Task Force for Acceleration, Control, and Handling of COVID-19 reported an increase of 49 cases to touch the total of 14,120 cases on Monday.
Head of Banjarmasin Health Office Machli Riyadi here said that on the same day 56 people were declared recovered from the coronavirus disease bringing the total recoveries to 12,683 people or 89.82 percent of the total cases recorded in the task force. The rest 555 people or 3,93 percent died.
The fresh cases came from Tanah Laut 1, Banjar 5, Barito Kuala 2, South Hulu Sungai (HSS) 7, Tanah Bumbu 4, and Banjarmasin City 30.
While patients recovered were from the Quarantine of Tanah Laut 1, Kotabaru 2, Barito Kuala 5, Tapin 2, HSS 6, Tanah Bumbu 33, and Banjarmasin 7.
Machli Riyadi said that a significant increase occurred in several areas in Banjarmasin. Even two urban villages, Pemurus Dalam and Pelambuan, which previously were the green zone have now returned to the red zone.
Several other urban villages have become yellow zone due to an increase in COVID-19 cases as well.
From the results of investigation by the task force, he said, the increase in cases mostly came from the family cluster, which indicated by more than one person in a family contracted the virus.
"For example, someone in a family is positive for COVID-19, he or she then transmits the virus to other members who vulnerable because of age or comorbid," he said.
The solution is the task force conducting socialization to the family level, especially families infected with COVID-19. "In the past, we did socialization in public places, now the focus is family," he said.
