Acting Mayor of Banjarmasin H Hermansyah will ensure that the city's junior high schools (SMP) are ready to carry out face-to-face learning which is planned to begin on November 16, 2020.
"The main certainty is that parents of the students provide a letter of approval for their children to go for face-to-face school," said Hermansyah here on Wednesday.
If parents did not approve, he said, then his party would not allow it.
"But almost 90 percent of parents indeed want face-to-face learning to start," Hermansyah said.
According to him, face-to-face schooling is possible to be held in the green zone, while almost all urban villages in Banjarmasin are already in the green zone.

"Even though schools are allowed to carry out face-to-face learning, the mechanism must still apply strict health protocol," Hermansyah pointed out.
Not only there is mandatory to wear masks, but it should take turn in the implementation. "Must be scheduled, so some go to school, some other (learning) at home, take a turn," he explained.
He ascertains that he himself will supervise the implementation. If there is something worrying, then his party will close it again.
"So, preparations for schools want to open face-to-face learning must really be done," he said.
Previously, the Banjarmasin Education Office planned face-to-face learning for junior high school to begin on November 16, 2020. Schools that have stated were ready to implement it state junior high school SMPN 7, SMPN 10, SMPN 12 and SMPN 31.
