Banjarmasin State Polytechnic (Poliban) has created a hygienic fish drying machine to help fishermen in South Kalimantan.
"This machine is solar-powered," said the Poliban Director Joniriadi S.ST. MT in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.
The machine, which was created together by lecturers and students, has been tested. Even, he said, one unit has been donated to fishermen in the Tanah Laut District, South Kalimantan.
"The test was successful, it could even dry tens of kilograms of fish," Joniriadi told.
With this machine, he said, the cleanliness of fish is more guaranteed, and the process is faster than the usual way the fishermen do.

According to him, this machine is planned to be produced a lot, so it can help fishermen to produce more dry fish, and ensure hygiene.
"Even though the weather is not good, the machine can work, thus fishermen's production continues," he said.
He also informed that the Poliban is currently creating a robot for medical purposes.
"The robot (serves as) food delivery for patients and so on. Isn't it in the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to contribute our work," he said.
