Kotabaru Police immediately brings in the National Police's Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) team branch of Surabaya to probe the cause of the fire that caused hundreds of residents to lose their houses.

"We have contacted the Surabaya Forensic Laboratory team and they will come to investigate the cause of the fire," said Kotabaru Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Andi Adnan SSIK here, Friday.

Meanwhile, the Kotabaru Crime Investigation Unit police have come to the scene and installed police lines.

"We put up police lines so people do not enter the area of the fire to facilitate the process of investigation," said the officer who is the alumnus of class 2000 Police Academy.

AKBP Andi Adnan said the temporary data on fire in the densely populated residential area of Jalan Patmaraga, Kotabaru Tengah Urban Village, Pulau Laut Sigam Sub-district, burned hundreds of houses in five neighborhood units (RT), namely RT8, RT9, RT13, RT15, and RT16.

As many as 159 families lost their homes. They have to take shelters temporarily in refuge tents.

According to him, the police have immediately distributed humanitarian assistance to the victims, as well as establishing social assistance posts and several tents for refugees.

"Social assistance has started to arrive from the Kotabaru Police, Kotabaru District Government, and from the South Kalimantan Provincial Government through social Office," said the man who was a former Chief of Banjarmasin City Crime Detective Unit.
