Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The whole area of Banjarbaru City, in South Kalimantan, will be free of mining according to its Spatial Planning (RTRW) which immediately will impose for 20 years from 2014 to 2034.


"Spatial Plan document effective immediately declares the entire region of Banjarbaru as free of mining," said Head of the Banjarbaru Development Planning Board (Bappeda), Said Abdullah, on Tuesday.

He said the mining intended are earth minerals such as coal, iron ore and general mining like sand and group C.

Banjarbaru's Spatial Plan has been recommended by the Governor of South Kalimantan and processed by Provincial Legal Bureau to be sent to the Ministry of the Interior.

The document filed by Banjarbaru municipal government had received repairs and advice from the Ministry related to the provision of land and areas. Improvements have been met, such as the provision of protected forest area by 2,000 hectares in the subdistrict of Liang Anggang in accordance with Ministry of Forestry decree number 435.

"In addition, providing the requested Sustainable Agriculture Land (LPB) in Bangkal Village and Palam which are in the Subdistrict of Cempaka," he said.

Five subdistricts mapped according to the conditions of the region, such as the Liang Anggang Subdistrict into trade, industry and services zones. Landasan Ulin Subdistrict designated as residential areas, commerce and services, including the districts of North and South Banjarbaru as residential zone.

"For the Cempaka Subdistrict is more dominant as residential zones and agricultural land, while the diamond mines in the process to be stopped so it is free of mine," he said.

Spatial Plan will be a reference document for all stakeholders in carrying out any development program in a city of 240 thousand inhabitants.
