Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Larilarian Island in the Subdistrict of Sebuku Island, eventually re-entering Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, territory, after three years of local and provincial government struggle to take it from Majene District, West Sulawesi.

Regent Kotabaru Expert Staff for Economics and Finance H Akhmad Rivai, here on Thursday said Larilarian return to Kotabaru by Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs (Permendagri) Number 53 Year 2014 regarding the revocation of Permendagri Number 43 Year 2011 on Regional Administration of Lereklerekan (Larilarian) Island.

"Since the publication of Permendagri No.43/2011, Kotabaru local government, the legislative, and provincial government brought the case to the Supreme Court, and Alhamdulillah we win," he said.

He added that, although the name Larilarian Island is not mentioned in Permendagri yet we should be grateful that Lereklerekan Island entered in the administration area of Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan.

In the future, if necessary, the name Larilarian could be proposed to replace Lereklerekan, because of its history.

Meanwhile, with regard to oil and gas potential of the island, it needs joint efforts of Kotabaru and South Kalimantan government to propose amendment to the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 3296 K/80/MEM/2013 on the Determination of the Production Areas and Basic Calculations for Natural Resources, Oil and Gas, Mining Geothermal and General Mining (Mineral and Coal) for the Year 2013.
