The South Kalimantan Provincial government is preparing to conduct swab test on its 10 thousand residents in 13 districts and cities to accelerate effort to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19.

Deputy Chief of the South Kalimantan Task Force for Acceleration Handling of COVID-19 Roy Rizali in Banjarbaru on Monday said, the team is currently ensuring the logistics and human resources to carry out the program.

According to this acting head of Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), who is also head of PUPR Agency, the mass swab test is to ensure the effort to break the chain of transmission is more effective.

"We want to find as many residents as possible exposed to COVID-19 to take immediate action, so that the number of sufferers can be reduced sooner," he pointed out.

The swab test, according to him, will be carried out to the lowest level, involving puskesmas and related parties, until the sufferers to be reduced quickly.

Roy said, although the government targeted 10,000 swab tests, the most important thing was not a quantity, but the quality of the implementation, so it should be right on target.

Based on the Task Force data on Monday afternoon, there was an increase of 33 COVID-19 case bringing the total to 5.689. Of these, 2.467 people were under treatment in hospitals or special quarantine.

Patient recovered also increased by 69 to make the total to 2.949 and 273 people died. While the number of suspect was 1.123.
