14,000 Insecticide-treated Nets to Prevent Malaria

Tanjung, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The central government provides as much as 14,000 insecticide-treated mosquito nets to reduce malaria cases in the region Tabalong District, South Kalimantan.

The staff of Planning and Monitoring of Sub Directorate for Malaria of Ministry of Health Hanifa Rogayah here on Wednesday said the use of insecticide-treated nets is one that is quite effective efforts to prevent disease caused by the anopheles mosquito.

"For the level of South Kalimantan, Tabalong malaria cases in the first rank and this year we still provide insecticide-treated nets," said Hanifah at the exposure in the 'Sambung Rasa' to malaria control program in Tanjung.

Insecticide-treated nets assistance program itself has been implemented since 2010 and Tabalong already received about 90,000 this antimalarial bed nets.

In addition to the use of insecticide-treated nets, Hanifa also recommends confirmation or checking if there are symptoms of malaria. Positive patients given treatment with artemisinin combination therapies or ACT.

Previously malaria program managers of Tabalong Public Health Agency, Wasul Falah said from January to March 2014 recorded 614 cases of malaria.
