Head of the Banjarmasin Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) H Arifin Noor said the construction of suspension bridge on the Bromo Island in the suburbs of South Banjarmasin was planned to be made beautiful to become a tourist destination.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), the Bromo island suspension bridge to connect Mantuil Urban Village to the island in South Banjarmasin will be built and we hope it will become a tourist place later," Arifin Noor said here on Monday.
According to him, the construction of the birdge was a realization of the city government's vision and mission to make Banjarmasin the most beautiful river city in Indonesia.
Therefore, he said, the bridge was designed with a beautiful design to be part of the tourist destination of the City of Thousand Rivers.
"Banjarmasin has a river cruising tour, the destination to the Bromo island is still very natural, if added with the view of the suspension bridge, of course tourists will get more interesting view," he said.
In addition to tourism, Arifin Noor said, the main purpose of the bridge construction with a cost of more than Rp40 billion was for the facility of the Bromo Island, which inhabited by nearly 1.000 households (KK). The area during this time was isolated from the city, because there was no road to connect it to the city.
