Regent of Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, H Sukamta asserted he does not want any residents of the district to be starving due to the impact of coronavirus outbreak.

"Yesterday in Takisung Village, we distributed as many as 500 kilograms of rice. I want no one in this district to starve due to COVID-19 because the local government is focused on this," Sukamta stated in Pelaihari, Friday (May 8, 2020).

He hoped, the Tanah Laut Indonesian Red Cross (PMI Tala) as one of humanity's organization, to channel the rice assistance to people who really need it.

"PMI Tala go down directly to the field to search people and distribute the food aid until no one of our residents is left behind from this assistance," he pointed out.

Sukamta also appealed the people not to panic excessively and keep following the COVID-19 transmission prevention protocol by staying at home, avoiding crowds, washing hands using soap and running water, wearing a mask, and avoid traveling to the red zone.
