Banjar Regent Khalilurrahman officially launched 112 emergency call which can be used by the public to make emergency calls when facing critical conditions or needing help. 

The launch at the Barokah Martapura Media Center on Tuesday was witnessed by the Director-General of Post and Information Technology of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics A Ramli via videoconference.

The event was attended by Banjar DPRD Speaker M Rofiqi, Forkopimda Banjar, Head of KSIP Agency Aidil Basith, Head of Bappedalitbang Galuh Tantri Narindra, Head of Health Agency dr Diauddin, and several SOPD heads of the Banjar District Government.

"112 is designated as a single emergency call number in order to make it easier for people to remember and contact emergency service, especially in the current situation of coronavirus outbreak," said the regent. 

He hoped, with the emergency call, all emergency events could be handle quickly and accurately for providing an excellent service to the community.

The director-general said, the 112 will help people in various situations of emergency. "Such as fire, (need) medical or ambulance, order and security, and other emergency incidents, including COVID-19, just remember 112 to report an emergency," he said.

But, he reminded, the local government has a consequence of being ready for 24 hours to serve the public and to coordinate with police, PMI, government agencies, and other services

Head of Comm-info, Statistics, and Encoding Agency M Aidil Basith said, the 112 Call Center was the first in south Kalimantan.

"Of several hundred districts and cities in Indonesia, Banjar is number 60 and we are grateful to the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics for helping," he said.
