The South Kalimantan capital city of Banjarmasin to build again disabled-friendly sidewalk to resemble the one has been built along Jalan A Yani from Km 1 to Km 6.

Head of the Banjarmasin Public Works and Spatial Agency Arifin Noor here on Thursday (Jan 9, 2020) said, the disabled-friendly sidewalk will be built on Jalan Brigjen Hasan Basri (also known as Kayu Tangi), North Banjarmasin.

"It will resemble to the one has been built and completed last year on Jalan A Yani," he said.

The difference, he explained, the costruction of the sidewalk that will reach Barito Kuala District along Trans Kalimantan road till Central kalimantan will be funded by the central government through the state budget (APBN).

"So, the sidewalk construction on Kayu Tangi will be assisted by the central government with a budget of about IDR10 billion," Arifin Noor remarked.

Other thing about the sidewalk is it will be made wide, as the land is considered to have enough space.

"So it is going to be built with the same opposite crossing to look beautiful," he told.

Arifin Noor gave a picture that Jalan Hasan Basri was known as neighborhood of student. There is a large campus of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) here, beside other colleges, and several schools.

"It is quite congested with pedestrians, so a sidewalk worth to be built to meet the standard, beauty, and friendly to people with disabilities," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, with the local budget (APBD), Arifin Noor said, there will be many improvements to the existing sidewalks, but not like the construction on Jalan A Yani.

"At the same time we will repair drainages to be function well," he said.
